OK. this is 100% true. I lived in China for several years back about 5 years ago and was last back in China 3 years ago just before COVID. Been stuck in the USA ever since but got married to a Chinese lady a few years back and in July they just started issuing “family reunion” visas, so I was finally able to come back to China. Arrived mid October and had to spend 7 days in a quarantine hotel and another 3 days in self (home) quarantine. My wife’s sister lives here in this somewhat remote area and we are only here for a few months due to my single-entry visa, so my wife’s sister helped us get an apartment in the same complex as she lives. No this isn’t about my wife’s sister.
Anyway, we are living in this remote area that is about an hour from the center of a very large city, sort of on the outskirts but it is very local. I have been here and out of quarantine about two weeks now and haven’t seen a single other foreigner, which is odd since when I lived in a 2nd tier city before I would see lots of foreigners. I think with COVID and the lack of visas and the generally non-pro Western things going on here that lots of foreigners have left and almost none are coming back, plus I am in this pretty remote area.
