*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
The popcorn was ready. I took the bag out of the microwave and poured it into a bowl that I already laid out. I heard the door creek as her mom walked in carrying groceries. She’s out of town a lot because of her work, and I hadn’t seen her in a while.
“Hey!” she exclaimed
She gave me a hug
“I haven’t seen you in a while. If I didn’t know any better I’d think you were avoiding me!”
“I think we’ve both been really busy,” I said, “Are you going to watch the movie with us?”
“No, I’ve gotta get out of here in a bit.” She explained, with a smile.
I think she’s always wished that I’d be the one her daughter chooses. She’s normally pretty cold with her boyfriends, but to me she’s always been nice.
“That’s a shame. Maybe next time.” I replied
She smiled and I walked out of the kitchen and into the hallway with my bowl of popcorn.
