This happened to me in the summer of 2009 during the time I lived in Miami while going to grad school.
I met her (I will call her Kenzie) the first day of Spring class. She stood out to me the moment I saw her: very tall, long dark hair, perfectly straight down to her mid section. Her skin was milky white and she was very thin, with her eyes that were a piercing green through nerdy glasses. She had a bookworm kind of appearance. She had a cute upturned nose with freckles. She sat quietly like a without saying a word to anyone.
About a week in, we were assigned a group research assignment and Kenzie was in my group. We hit it off and she and within a couple of weeks we became friends. One day her lease was up for renewal, and I had an extra room across from mine in my apartment. I asked if she wanted to be my roommate and she agreed.
