I’ve been holding off on telling this story for a few years now but now that it’s been almost 3 years and I moved away from the city it occurred in, the office I worked at has now closed, and I have no more contact with anybody mentioned in the story, I feel I can finally tell it. I also am a big fan of this sub. All names in this story are fake for anonymity and privacy reasons.
Some context:
So in summer of 2019, me and my then girlfriend, Anne, were going through a rough patch. It was a lot of bickering and our breakup was inevitable in the near future.
One night that summer, I went on Omegle because I was bored so I figured I’d shoot the shit for a bit and see if I could make a random internet friend. So in the “interests” box, I put a certain genre of music that I like because I feel like music is the one thing that can bring everyone together. After rummaging through bots, boring people, etc, I finally get to a real human via my interest, “Rose”. Me and Rose started talking about music and she asked me if I liked a certain song that was popular at the time in the genre. I said yeah and we hit it off wonderfully. After some time, we exchanged Snapchats and Twitter handles. Me and Rose would have intermittent contact but nothing consistent until Thanksgiving 2019. Rose lived in a different state than me so it was a bit “long distance”.
