J and the VP (MF)
I just pulled a double shift at work…tired and ready to leave, I checked my email one last time. There was an email from the VP of HR, Ms. R. The email asked me to come by her home directly after my shift for a quick meeting. This would have typically been uncommon, but in the Covid days, most of the white collar office workers were working from home fulltime now. While it seemed like a pain in the ass at first, I knew our company was doing well, and had heard that more than a few factory workers receiving a sizable envelope as a cash bonus. I had become the the head of machine maintenance almost a year ago, after the former retired after 25yrs. I was told he personally recommended me to take over even with my lack of experience. Sometimes reliability and organization win out over years of service. I was happy to be promoted at that time, but the workload was increased substantially as well.
