The liquid burned as it flowed down my throat, like a small, dull flame held near my hand for a second or two. Although the drink burned, it was still a welcome relief from the heat and humidity of the August night. August, the hottest month of the year in Texas, when the air is so moist that getting damp just from walking outside is commonplace for anyone courageous enough to brave the lovely Texas summertime climate. I placed the glass on the small wooden table that stood directly in front of me and stood up. I was dizzy and quite lightheaded, but that did not come as a surprise to me. Generally when I drink a concoction of half Dr. Pepper, half Vodka, the dizziness it to be expected. I turned to my left and walked to the back door of the typical suburban house where I was staying and let myself inside. I walked across the kitchen and into the living room where three other guys were sitting in various places watching T.V. I walked to a large cushioned lounge chair where Tyler was sitting. The chair had extra space and sitting next to him was the only option besides the floor. I wanted to sit next to him. And I suddenly felt it build inside me. I wanted much more than that.
