The interview
I walk inside, and sit down on a comfortable couch opposite you.
“Jenny, is it?” You ask.
“Yes” I reply.
You nod approvingly, looking me up and down. I’m dressed in a nice dress and look quite well.
“So,” you begin “In the advertisement, we said we were looking for a nanny. Someone who could be around the house.”
I nod.
“Do you have any experience in nannying or housekeeping?”
I know I have to give a good answer. I really can’t mess this up. This job pays very well, it’s a live in job and my lease is just up. They advertised as having minimal duties and generous time off. It would be beyond perfect for me, so I need to convince this man to hire me.
I begin my spiel about my experience working with kids, my enthusiasm for housework and all the other bits and pieces I’d practiced the night before. You smile wide throughout my little speech, seemingly interested and engaged.
“Well, Jenny, I have to say you seem perfect. Maybe a little under qualified, but there’s really something else that we’re looking for in this job. I think you would be great at it.”
