Vacation

Marshall had just gotten home from his final business trip of the month, his boss was ecstatic with the job he had done and gave him the calender month for vacation time. The house was clean and everything was well organized, he had called Sarah on his way home from the airport, the live in maid he hired a couple weeks back when he started traveling more. His daughter, Amber, had gone off to college last summer and she called him and asked if he could give her best friend some work as she did her college classes online, giving it thought he knew he wouldn’t be around to keep everything clean and take care of his two cats.

Taking his shoes off at the door he loosened his tie, walked into the kitchen to see Sarah in a crop top and pajama shorts, her ginger hair up in a bun and her glasses were sitting on the counter next to her. She has an apron she brought with her on with ‘kiss the cook’ written on it in a fancy font. Sarah looked up and smiled, putting on her glasses to see him better. Marshall sat down at the breakfast bar, drinking from the glass of dark liquid in front of him, an ice cubes swirling around it. The taste of whiskey filled his mouth.
