After ten years of marriage my husband and I called it quits about 6 months back. The decision was pretty mutual and we have been able to fairly successfully maintain a friendship while sharing custody of our 5 yr old son. Despite all the issues we had while married one thing we never had a problem was with sex. We both have rather high sex drives and were very good at taking care of each other especially after being together over 12 years. To be honest we both feel we would have split up much sooner if it wasn't for the amazing sex.
So this weekend was his weekend with our son, he returned fairly late this evening and put him to bed. Afterward I offered him a drink knowing he needed to talk to me before leaving. We stood in the kitchen drinking some wine while he explained to me that he had to go out of town for work and would be gone about three months. I could see he was kinda down about this, sad he wouldn't get to see his son for so long. Knowing how close they were made me feel bad and I reached out, pulled him into my arms and hugged him tightly to try to make him feel better. We held our embrace for quite a while, both lightly running are hands up and down the others back.
