Often Marcus would catch Katie looking at him from across the boardroom table or lunch table in the staff room. They had worked together for several years now and had a flirty friendship since day one. Nothing ever eventuated from it though, besides the cheeky grins and suggestive smiles.
Both were married and kept a very professional mannerism at work. But each work day they spent together was much more enjoyable when they were both within each other’s presence.
Over the past week though, something had changed. Katie made more of an effort to be closer to Marcus. And he was doing the same. They both had lunch together, they sat beside each other in meetings and on brief occasions they would brush against each other, even if it was just to pass each other in the hallway.
It was a Friday afternoon and it had been an extra long week filled with over demanding clients and deadlines. Half the office had left for the long weekend with just a handful of staff left in the building. Marcus and Katie has opted to stay back with some others to clear the week’s leftover work.
