I went to grad school at night while working full time. My program was probably about 25% full time workers like myself and 75% full time students. I missed out on some of the social aspects of the program but it was easier to bond with the other night schoolers. This is how I met Harmony.
We were taking an International Political Risk class and I noticed her when she first came in. She was also in a business suit and sat near the front like me – just diagonally toward my back. She had jet black hair, deep brown eyes, and I don’t know how else to describe it but a very serious face. She laughed but didn’t smile too much. Not cold, but stoic. Her clothes did not reveal too much of what her body looked like. She always dressed conservatively and professional – but her gold and diamond jewelry pieces always stood out, include a large cross she wore as a necklace. She also had a strong accent – I later learned her family was from Ecuador. When she came in I took the chance to strike up a conversation about how we worked full time, what we did, blah blah blah. We became Facebook friends, exchanged messages, then numbers, and sometime after the semester was over decided to meet up for drinks to catch up.
