I was completely and utterly trapped. The wooden stairs on this old porch were mostly solid wood but some time ago someone had kicked in a part of the vertical board leaving me just enough space to squeeze my shoulders through but not enough to get my hips through. Because of a previous shoulder injury, I wasn’t flexible enough to back out either. My knees were resting on the stairs, probably looking like the stairs had eaten my upper half and even though I could have sworn I heard that stupid cat down here he was nowhere in sight. I was lucky enough that my elbows could rest on the dirt ground so at least I wasn’t too uncomfortable right now.
My backyard was unfortunately rather private and I was expecting any visitors anytime soon. Unless I got lucky, no one would find me for quite awhile. I tried to get enough purchase with my legs to yank myself out but the angle was too awkward.
Suddenly I heard voices. It sounded like a few men.
