The Night

Her nervous energy was getting the best of her. He was on his way to her hotel room and she couldn’t contain her excitement.

They’d been friends for a couple of years now, even close friends. They shared a chemistry that was unexplainable but real. They had chatted the first night about how they both felt the butterflies and sparks but how it would never be anything more than a friendship. He was in a relationship and she was married. She also lived several states away. It just wasn’t in the cards. Still, it didn’t keep her from often wondering what might have been. They chatted on the phone often and when they did, it just felt right.

The feeling of comfort, friendship, and sexual tension never went away and certainly never minimized, only building over time. By now, he knew her better than her own husband knew her. Their ability to share information comfortably with each other allowed him to learn everything about her. What turned her on, what her fantasies were, and secrets she had never told anyone, including her husband. That feeling of trust meant something to her, it meant something to both of them.
