[Poetry] Apogee: A sonnet to Harvey, et. al.

**Apogee**

You stand upon the pinnacle of fame

To gaze down at the throng adoring you.

They seek for any mention of your name,

Hang on your words, not asking if they’re true.

With ruthless guile you stole away my place

And forced me to be used on bended knees.

Now I keep vacant smiles across my face

As with my body you do what you please.

You think that I am broken all apart.

You think you’re now beloved by one and all.

But, I cup hidden vengeance in my heart

And with it I will cause your fatal fall.

You’re blinded by the towering height you see,

Not realizing … you’ve reached apogee.

Summer Fling [Poetry]

This started as a DirtyPenPal prompt idea, but ended up as a complete piece. I welcome comments.

**Summer Fling**

It was just a fling,
A Summertime thing,
spent with her.

June filled the world,
tree’s blossoms unfurled.
Golden sunlight shone bright without end.

It was only a flirt!
What could it hurt,
hid from me?

The month of July
went dizzily by
between you and the one I called friend.

Not thinking you’d stray
for meaningless play
spent with her,

I didn’t suspect
that you’d disrespect,
but through August you’d leave me alone.

And so you chose lust.
You betrayed the trust
owed to me.

Your torrid affair
masked chill in the air
when September winds came to moan.

Full drunk with your need,
not caring your seed
spent in her.

October wore in,
and with it the sins
of your Summertime tryst came unmasked.

The girl, young and wild,
but carrying your child,
came to me.

Dead leaves all took flight
through November nights.
“Was it worth it?” I brokenly asked.

Now, are you surprised
your tissue of lies
cost you her?
