I know some of you are waiting for the second part to my previous piece…
…and I apologize, but I am still working on it the second piece. I was already half way through this one and finsished.
This one will have a second and maybe a third part.
Hope you enjoy it.
The rain was soothing, calming. I didn’t want it to stop. Not sure why I like the rain so much, but it brought me peace. Things had been hard after my wife, Elizabeth passed away….they still are. It was quiet around the house, especially with the girls being at college.
The leather of my office chair creaked as I got up to walk over to the bar in my office. I could smell the Mary’s cooking, even though my office door was closed. The smell of homemade lasagna, my late wife’s family recipe, a favorite of mine and the girl’s, was starting to make my stomach rumble. I poured myself two fingers of scotch, as I took another deep inhale of the scent of garlic and made my way back to my desk. As I sat back down, I opened my laptop up and pulled up the results of the exchange closing. My eyes drifted from my screen and ended staring at the picture of Elizabeth, and then to my two beautiful daughters. Even though she was gone, I still had Emily and Maddison. They both looked just like their mother, thank goodness they got her looks, because they sure as hell didn’t get it from me.
