I was 20 and on winter break in college. She was 18 and was halfway through her senior year in high school.
Every year my family goes out of town after Christmas to visit family in another state and this particular year my younger sibling had a competition to attend to in Florida right before New Year’s. So after we had visited and spent some time with our extended family, my family and I drove our separate ways with them going to Florida and myself driving back home.
A little back story before proceeding: I was in a long term relationship and had been dumped a month and a half prior to this happening. My FWB and I had become friends two-ish years prior to this and had no physical contact whatsoever up until this point as this was our first time hanging out.
The day that I drove back home, my FWB, Sarah, was spending time with extended family who had come into town for the holiday. That night she sent me a text asking if I made it home, how the drive was, etc. She then asked what I was doing and I told her I had been binge watching Breaking Bad ever since I had gotten home. She told me she could come over if I wanted her to and immediately I knew what this meant.
