My previous story was well received, so here we go!

I left the party somewhat early, Eric only came back a few hours later. He seemed to have had a pretty good night, and made no mention of the fact that Kara and I had disappeared for an hour or two. I wasn’t sure if he wanted me to tell him, or if he actually had no idea. He wasn’t sober by any stretch of the imagination, but neither was he drunk, so it was hard to tell whether or not he actually knew. Either way, I stayed silent, figuring it’s better to tell him a story like this at another time. We hit the sack and in the next morning we slept in, like every Saturday morning should be spent.

In the morning I checked my phone, there was a message from Kara: “Hey.” Half awake I replied in a similar fashion. Her reply was instantaneous: “Dude, it’s almost noon, you just woke up?” We chatted super casually for a while, completely ignoring the events of the night before. Eventually we agreed to meet up for a late breakfast, as she had already made plans to go with some of the earlier risers.

I never really noticed Kara. She was studying medicine, and I was in math. We shared no courses, and she was just another girl in the residence. My roommate and I held long conversation about who the cutest girls on the floor were, and Kara was seldom brought up.

A little bit about myself, I am just over 6 feet, wear thick glasses around hazel eyes, and leave my black hair out to grow into bothersome curls. It’s unlike the hair my mostly European family has, but it is what it is. Back in high school I was involved with track quite a lot, so I was quite lean coming into college. Jack is the name, by the way.

It was the end of the midterm season, and a group of friends from the floor were all planning on doing what all freshmen do – drink when we’re not supposed to. I met up with my roommate Eric at around 9, when my linear algebra midterm was done. I threw my lucky pencil in the drawer and we headed out. The plan was simple: eat, pick up some drinks, and head back for a night of debauchery.
