My job is more boring with Covid active, but normally a portion of my responsibilities are to keep customers happy. Tickets to concerts, sports games, whatever they are into. Right before covid I was visiting an important client away from home, and offered that we could go with some of his people to a casino for some drinks and entertainment. They were totally into the idea. As we pulled up to the casino, my main contact mentioned that there was a strip club across the street for later. I’m not really into strip clubs. I don’t like the feeling of paying for attention, or lack of authenticity. That said, his comment set the course for the night and frankly it’s a common request.
After two hours gambling and drinking my clients were up a few hundred dollars and the decision was made to go across the street. Several in our group split off to go home to their family, but three remained including the big wig. In these situations I privately ask to speak to a manager when we arrive. I want the experience to be positive for my clients, and the staff always knows the drill. I’ll give them a corporate card and ask them to put the charges from my group on it. I’ll also ask that all of the attention goes to my clients. The clients want to feel desired, and this is a business.
