In 2015, I was 18 years old and an absolutely brand newly certified EMT. I was hired very quickly by a fairly notable local EMS agency. I was sent through emergency vehicle operations training, new-hire classroom & field training, and it wasn’t an incredibly long time until I was released to the streets.
I might of been inexperienced as far as work goes, I was absolutely inexperienced sexually (was a virgin), but I wasn’t completely naive. I knew people who worked together sometimes slept together, I knew EMS/FD/PD/ER tend to have a reputation for sleeping with each other each other, however I was pretty much shocked by how much actually goes on in my area.
As the new girl freshly off field training, I was strongly maintaining my belief that I shouldn’t dip my pen in the company ink so-to-speak. Yeah, that absolutely didn’t last. In my first few months off field training I’d hooked up with a coworker. I was around as an EMT for a couple years, went to paramedic school, have now been a paramedic for a few years at my same employer, have definitely hooked up with quite a few coworkers and have a rather body count that may be considered slutty.
