Some time ago I posted to /r/dirtyr4r, thinking it very unlikely I would get a response as I live in Barcelona and most redditors are in the USA. However, several weeks after posting I got a PM from a Canadian woman, saying she was coming to Barcelona for a conference and was interested in meeting up.
In the run up to her trip we chatted regularly and got on well, with a lot of similar interests. She mentioned she was very nervous and had never done anything like this before. She wanted to do it with an mature, experienced man, which is why she had chosen me.
We arranged to meet in a café, and just to chat and get to know each other better. I arrived early and waited for almost an hour. She didn’t show up. I wasn’t entirely surprised.
I got a very apologetic PM later that evening. Apparently she had actually been in the café when I arrived and had seen me, but had got cold feet and left. I said that’s fine, no problem, it’s understandable. We arranged to try again in the same location the next day.
