The rain was never ending. I woke up this morning fully ready for a hike in the wilderness, nothing but the sun, flowing meadows, and a picnic. While not always this optimistic, I had a feeling today was going to be a good day. I finished my first year of college, and that is what mattered. Having never been to a party, or even skipping class I think I deserve a day off.
A hike was just what I needed to refresh, but the weather changed like nothing I had ever experienced and I got lost on the way back down the mountain. The curving roads and dark skies did nothing to help my confusion. When my car stalled out I really was ready to give up.
*Okay there is a bar a mile from here, if I run I can make it in less than 10 min, totally worth it, it’s just rain. What’s the worst that can happen?* Gathering the lone umbrella tucked away in the backseat I braved the storm, my sandals and light yellow sundress soaking through within seconds of stepping into the rain. *I will never go hiking again, at least not in sandals. What was I thinking, Instagram pictures my ass.*
