My parents have always been fairly physically affectionate in front of others, at least compared to some of my classmate’s parents. It’s not like they would grind or paw at each other but they’d share deeper, albeit brief, french kisses on some occasions, like when one of them came back home from work, on each other’s birthdays and anniversary or New Year’s Eve. Besides this one afternoon I’m about to share here they had always been careful to be reasonably quiet, close the door or wait until everyone was asleep. Even when I finally found out what sex was I was blissfully unaware of my parents’ sex life.

I was a college student at the time, visiting my parents for a couple weeks. It was the last Saturday of the month so Dad would spend the afternoon with his friends. Sometimes when he came home from those outings he was visibly drunk. Not black out drunk, but still it was obvious. He’s a fun drunk so I didn’t particularly mind, but he had this glazed over look in his eyes that I only later discovered was actually a look of pure lust. At night he would often ask Mum to “shower together” or “lay down” in a hushed tone. She would try to finish whatever she was doing around the house but without fail would drop it to go with him.
