The moonlight was shimmering over the still lake, the last whispers of light from the previous day were still flickering in the sky as the night drew in.
They had been on the run all day, the Imperial guard had been far more efficient in tracking them than they gave them credit for. They were, usually, easily defeated, however this particular band of soldiers had just been humiliated so this probably accounted for their current motivation to chase them both down. But humiliation aside, they eventually gave up at dusk, and as they were in an unfamiliar forest at night, their self preservation prevailed.
She dropped her arrow quiver on the bank…it one arrow left. Her long, blonde hair glistened in the moonlight, as she unclipped her hair, tumbling down over her shoulders as she did so. He found her intoxicating. Beautiful but deadly at the same time. They met only a week before but already he found that he could not stop thinking about her, not least unencumbered with her armour and weaponry.
