A couple of months ago my marriage broke up. It had been a long time in coming—we’d separated twice before and the spark had totally gone. I moved out into my own place and I started to rebuild my life. I didn’t think about being with anybody…I didn’t think I was ready for that yet, and it had been so long since my now-ex and I had done anything with each other.
Some years ago, she and I had been looking for something more exciting sexually, and we tried out swinging and polyamory for a while. After a number of strikeouts we met a couple named Adam and Erin, and we started a relationship with them. Our time together was very fun at first, but over time the emotional burdens of a four-way relationship were just too much for us, and after about six months we broke up. My now-ex and I decided to give up on partners outside of our marriage, and we forgot about Adam and Erin.
