Communicate with him about what you are doing and what it means, even if this is just totally casual on your part and it means nothing outside of that moment. He may understand that it’s a casual thing, or he may have already picked out your wedding dress.
My guess is he avoids parties because he has no idea what is happening there and can get himself into all sorts of shit just because he can’t read people.
And talk to him before it goes to far. He might be totally cool with casual sex and a friend, or he might see that as total rejection of him. Whatever the conversation, safe space, private, and be prepared for a whole load of questions. And no assumptions about what he knows about your intentions – he probably knows nothing and has made all sorts of assumptions based on the ‘rules’ he had learned about what various things mean.
