First off. Never ever let someone “convince” you of something. Regardless of love.. You get to make those decisions for yourself!
Second. I see the error here. No lube = no anal. Lube is ESSENTIAL.
If you do decide to try it again in the future lube is a absolute must. Don’t get the numbing ones though. That can lead to other issues and more importantly start small. Get some beads or a small plug and see how you feel about that.
Yes never do anal without lube as that ruins it totally. Plus get anal lube especially made for that. Also plugs are good to stretch yourself slowly. Also use a lube for that as well.
Maybe your first time was too rushed. He should go slowly at first since your not used to it.
