I [F] saw a glimpse of my classmate [M] at the mall — Part 1

While most of the students at university commuted and didn’t live on campus, there was a high likelihood that you commuted from the same area as the person sitting next to you, or at least within 5-10 miles of them. Keeping that in mind, it’s not unusual for me to see people I go to class with out in public every so often. Whether it’s at the gym, a restaurant, or at the grocery store, I definitely in the back of my mind keep an eye out for any familiar faces.

As winter approaches, the usual tank top and shorts aren’t cutting it for me at the gym any longer. They also tend to keep my gym cooler, so within an hour I’m freezing. Needless to say, I needed new gym clothes… warmer gym clothes. The closest department store that carried my favorite brands is at the major mall around here. I waited till the end of the week and went last Saturday to pick out some new gym clothes.

Just my luck, the day I go happens to be a relatively warm day and the mall is super crowded. I picked up some new gray leggings that are thicker than the ones I usually wear, a sweatshirt with a zipper in the front, and some warmer socks. Even though I came to this specific store because I knew they had the brand I usually buy, I actually ended up picking out everything from a brand I never tried before. For casual clothes, I usually assume that the sizes are consistent across brands, but with gym clothes (especially leggings), I wanted to be sure everything fit good. I found the closest fitting room and soon realized that there was only one fitting room on the first level (for girls). Naturally, there was a line, until a employee came up to us and said that there were more fitting rooms on the second floor of the store. I had wrongly assumed that the fitting rooms were gender specific, and so I made my way up to the second floor and found a fitting room by the men’s loungewear section.

As I walked through the aisle of pajama pants and silky sleep-boxers, I spotted a familiar face walking into the same fitting room section with a pair of those thin sweatpants made for wearing around the house. There were *far less* men shopping today, so it was just me and a guy I’ve had a class with since the beginning of the Fall semester at university. “Hey, I know you… you’re in ECONO 220 with Richards, right?” I said. Taken aback by me saying anything at all, he replied, “Hey, uh… yeah, you look familiar too. You usually sit a few seats to the right and in front of me, right?” Humbled that he remembered me at all, given that this was really our first interaction this semester, I replied, “Yeah, I think so, haha!” I continued, “Anyway, sorry I don’t want to keep you, it’s just that the girl’s fitting rooms downstairs are packed and they told us to come up here.” With a playfully suspicious look on his face, he replied, “Right! Hey, yeah, it was great running into you!” I replied, “Same! See you Tuesday!” as I made my way into the last fitting room and he started turning the lock shut of the second room from the entrance to the area.

I changed out of my clothes, even though it was namely the leggings that I wanted to try on. But I figured, since I’m already here, might as well give the whole outfit a shot. The leggings fit *great*. At first, I thought they might be a little tight. But after moving around in them a bit, they really hugged my form well and made it feel like I was wearing nothing. I looked cute! I took this opportunity to send my Snapchat streaks with the three-way mirror, which gave a nice peek at my glutes and thigh progress. What can I say? I like attention, and I like showing myself off.

Thinking back, while taking fifty different mirror-selfies, deciding on a caption, and who I wanted to send it to in addition to my streaks, I must’ve gotten pretty quiet. When I was done changing back into my old clothes and left the fitting room, I was startled and almost dropped everything I was carrying. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” I said. The guy I recognized from earlier was in the hallway about to enter the fitting room right next to the one he was in when I had last saw him (which was also the one right next to the one I was in). “Uh, the lock wasn’t working on that door so I thought I’d switch rooms,” he said. “I didn’t hear anyone else and assumed you had already left, so I thought I could be quick. I’m so sorry.”

While he was coming up with that explanation, I *could not* help but notice his lack of pants. He was wearing a super casual black t-shirt, that barely fell above the shiny silver waistband of these bright white Calvin Klein boxer briefs. I tried not to stare and only glanced nonchalantly while acting like I was shuffling around what I was carrying. He was hard, it was visible, I’ve never seen an underwear pouch so perfectly filled.

I had my doubts about what really was going on. After all, even if I was quiet for a bit, I surely made noise while changing back to my old clothes. Secondly, did it really take him *that long* to realize that the lock on the door wasn’t going to work?

To be continued…
