QUESTION: 1st Person or 3d Person?

I’m writing an erotic thriller about a woman who becomes a prostitute (I am a man BTW)

It’s written in the first person as she looks back over the course of several years, and ends in the present moment.

I’m wondering if I should write in the third person, would it be more effective? Thanks . . .

  1. I’ve enjoyed many a first person and third person POV novel/novella/smut/erotica over the years, it really all depends on how you want to get your point across. Sometimes first person feels more personal and intimate, and third person seems less. But sometimes third person can feel more voyeuristic, while first person doesn’t. What do you want your readers to feel? Do you want to keep other characters thoughts hidden or not? Even with first person you can have a sense of dramatic irony and have others thoughts in it if you switch back and forth from other characters first person povs (there are a lot of reverse harem stories that do just that). In the end, it all depends how you want the reader to feel, and in what way you feel the story is best conveyed.

  2. I like first person from the woman’s POV. Makes it easy to relate and imagine that the story is happening to me
