Stranger in the car

What is the concept of not getting a bus at night? And even if you do, it’s not safe, especially for us, women. The heck!

And hence my never endless tail of waiting at the bus stop continued while I envied all those who had cars, remembering the day I had one too, but had to sell it off to pay off my mother’s debts.

Usually, at times like this, I would just book an uber but my home was quite far, and either all the rides were canceled or they asked for a shit ton of money.

Right on the verge of crying, I heard a car pull its brakes. I looked up to see a good-looking gentleman putting his passenger seat window down and staring at me.

“Need a ride?”

“No, thank you”

And I looked away, don’t need to tell me how dangerous this can be.

“You’ve been sitting here for the past hour and a half”

“Stalker”

“Sure call me that but my office is right across the street and I get a pretty good view of here from there”

I looked up and it was indeed true.

“How can I be sure you work there and aren’t a serial killer actually stalking me”

He showed his card which clearly stated he was an employee and worked at a pretty high-ranking position. But still…

“So can you trust me now?”

“No.”

“Remember, chivalry is not dead yet.”

“Your chivalry is not enough for me to trust a random stranger and drop me home, you could be a murderer, a rapist, a kidnapper, there are so many possibilities.”

He laughed and shook his head.

“And sure, going on a bus at this time is so very safe.”

“At least then, I wouldn’t be blamed”

He sighed and said, “Well then, I’ll just wait here till you find an appropriate way to get home.”

I couldn’t say no because that would be wrong, I mean who am I to tell him to do stuff? He might as well wait, his choice.

It was currently 10:00 p.m and yet another 30 minutes went by with no buses going to the route I live in and 15 canceled uber trips. Universe surely hates me. And the desperation to go home led me to do the inevitable…

“Is the offer for the ride still valid?”

He just gave a genuine smile and I got in.

a part 2 maybe?
