Hello all. I’m here with an update.

I met with my ex Sunday night. I stopped by her house to drop off some things for the kids, she invited me in, and eventually I got around to asking her about everything.

Bottom line – she has no problem with our arrangement. She did have some specific comments, though. I’ll summarize them here.

Regarding the rough stuff: she told me she prefers rough sex. She was just taken aback that I was being so rough, because it was never our norm. She even joked and said “I figured it was some kind of grudge fuck.” Well, she wasn’t wrong.

The anal session: she said that she’s done anal before, but just doesn’t like it. I asked her why she agreed to do it. She said “Well, I don’t have any major issues with it – I just don’t prefer it. I was going to give in and do it when you wanted it, but you offered me more money, so I agreed.” It appears she turned the tables on me and got me to pay more for what she was going to agree to any way. Well played. But, I still loved the idea of her accepting more money in exchange for sex.

I told her that, yes, I think that it has taken me down a darker path than I anticipated. We both sat and thought about it for a bit. I told her that she knows I’d never let her or my kids go hungry or anything like that – money is always available if things got real bad. She said of course she knew it.

In he end, we agreed that we will meet for the next session, but I’ll have no really weird surprises to spring on her. We also agreed that she’s always welcome to “upcharge or say no” if anything comes up that she’s not ok with. This wasn’t new – but I wanted to reinforce it.

Soooooo – that’s the recap. Well, mostly. I had a few more questions for her.

Question: Is the situation fucked up?

Answer: Yes and no. She doesn’t want anyone to know what she’s doing. Alternatively, she said she likes the feeling of being “an object for rent”, and that surprised her – that she likes the situation.

Question: Did I (OP) go too far?

Answer: Not really. Mostly she was just surprised more than anything. She knows me well enough to know I’m not a monster. She also said she figured that I was getting off on paying her – that it’s the dream of the jilted ex husband. I had to agree. She also said it was fun in a kinky way to get money out of me.

My thoughts: There’s been a TON of discussion around my post. I got flooded with DMs ranging from virtual “hi-fives” wanting me to do some really awful stuff to my ex to other messages excoriating me for being a monster that can’t let go of the past. It turns out that this encounter brought up the past, not the other way around. I HAD moved on. If I continue to dwell on the past, I’ll most likely stop the encounters.

It was a very good talk with the ex. We both pondered why the sex life wasn’t as adventurous when we were married. I reminded her that I tried a number of times to introduce new things. She was very open and honest and said that she thinks that, while we were compatible in many ways in life, I just probably wasn’t her type. (Post-divorce she’s dated jock-types. I’m fit, but never would be mistaken for a jock. I’m basically a white-collar business guy type, I guess). It was hard to hear that she wasn’t attracted to me in that way, but it was something I’d known for years.

This will be the last update. I didn’t expect my story to become so big and contentious (the thread was locked in one of the subreddits). I appreciate everyone who read it, and commented on it.
