Let me start by saying this will be long. I won’t give details on where, how much or what items I’ve used. I’ve scoured the internet everything I needed to know was found on forums and YT videos. Skip to *** for the good part, this covers very basic setup. And one other thing, no I won’t share pics, or screenshots, or vids. My significant other and I had recent purchased a house given how low rates are currently. We had about a month before our current lease was up so we took our time getting things moved over. I initially planned on spending the weekend there just to start unpacking and rearranging but as I was going through some old boxes I ended up finding a shitty little spy cam I once had. It worked well enough but it was bulky and the ribbon and antenna would just flop around, very hard to use unless you can secure it. But that got me to thinking, I need to run ethernet through the home anyways, I’m already going to be cutting and drilling through the walls, why not give myself a little treat for all the hardwork. I mean, whats the point of buying a house if you wont entertain occasionally?
I embarked on the journey of getting all my materials, this was definitely more costly than I had expected just in cameras and cables alone but you can’t exactly set up hidden cams once your family is moved in. I built a shitty pc for controls and used that as the excuse for all the wiring and whatnot and got then got to work.
I was a pretty standard job for running ethernet through the home, just make sure your holes are big enough to run all of your wires through. It was a bit of a gamble setting up the bedrooms. Obviously without having stuff moved in yet I didn’t know where bede and whatnot would be placed so I positioned it on some light shelves i installed. Just replaced a screw with a camera and used the little screw cover piece. Same setup was done in the bathrooms. I aimed holding small picture frames. It was easy enough to get away with installing one of each in the important areas without seeming sketchy. From there it was all plug and play and just waiting for the fun to begin.

We moved into a home with a hot tub only and this last little cold front gave us the chance to put it to some good use. With just moving in we needed to celebrate and we invited a couple of my SO’s friends and a couple of my daughter’s friends.
