I am based in UAE and used to work for a boutique hotel some where in UAE. This is from over 12 years ago but the memories of this job and the thrills still excite me to this day. As a team leader I was responsible for a few sections. Since it was a small resort, we had 3 people in the reception, 10 in room service , and 1 operator. Brenda!??
I had lost my job in the 2007 economic crisis and had taken this job instead of returning back home. So it was a few steps down for me position wise but still in hotels so I took it up. As she used to be alone in the back office most of the time, she also would be the acting office admin. The back office was where we had the management offices and supervisors stations.
One day while I was in the back office doing my stuff on the computer, Brenda asked me to help her with something on her computer. Some thing with a booking not changing or something similar, very mundane. While I was there she started a conversation about my relationship status. I told her about the recent separation of me and my girlfriend who went back to her home in China (JY) when she too lost her job. ( I am not Chinese. ). I never met her outside work and avoided being alone with her out side at all costs as didn’t want to be involved with my subordinate and complicate things further than they already were.
How I wish I could tell her that she really made me feel very happy and excited with our little daring adventure.
