I apologize if this isn’t allowed, but thought I’d give it a try here.
I’m looking to fill a small editor/proofreading gig.
Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented and possess excellent command of the English language and grammar usage as well as punctuation.
BEFORE applying, PLEASE read the entire post!
These are some of the main topics I’m really looking for help with
1. “She” vs. “You” vs. “Her”, etc. When I first started writing these stories, they weren’t meant to be one giant collection. (Which I have several in total, making up “The Voyeur Collection” now). I don’t know what the best way to approach it is for the widest audience appeal. I have heard “you” makes it too personal. I also don’t know about tense, I think most of what I’ve written is in first person present.
2. Consistency throughout the stories, like I said they weren’t meant to be a “collection” and they still don’t need to be. But I would like the main character to carry similarly throughout the stories. If that makes sense?
3. Repetition, I used “I” A LOT and I know that’s frowned upon. I’m not the greatest at knowing when is too much and so I used it by default.
4. Run on sentences and basic grammar. I do my best but I also write fast so I know that things like that can get overlooked while writing.
Lastly, I would prefer a woman for this position. Only because these stories are aimed at women so if there is something that sounds out of place they would have a better grasp and understanding first hand. i.e. the way a girl removes her shirt vs. a guy.
I’m looking for fairly quick responses (to the correspondence), as well as being able to tackle the above issues.
Pay is negotiable, this is a side project so that will need to be kept in mind. I cannot afford to pay $100’s per story for something I am making very little on.
It’s on a per piece basis, I have several stories as of now, totalling almost 40,000 words, I’m also working on a new longer story now.
This would be great for someone who just enjoys the art of proofing and grammar.

I’d be interested in proofreading. I can provide past reviews I’ve done for other books I’ve read. They would be the best reference to my writing and grammatical skills.
