White Shadow’s Nasty Stories

In a day when the internet was simpler, there used to be a site called “White Shadow’s Nasty Stories.” I spent untold amounts of time there, so much so that back when it was still a thing (like ~2003), I spent time to figure out how to mirror it and I recently just came across my backup of it while cleaning out some old hard drives. The Wayback machine’s archive appears to be complete, but not all in one fell swoop – so now I’m left with a question:

**What do I do with 4,376 erotic stories spanning 192M of text from over 1,000 authors written in the late 90’s / early 2000’s?**

  1. I too remember that site — good on you for wanting to back it up. I don’t have any real advice on what to do, but it’s good to know that the stories listed there don’t need to fade away.

I’m just spitballing, but I imagine it wouldn’t be that difficult to track down the person that registered or hosted the old site, to see if he/she has any advice (or blessings) on repurposing the material onto another homage site — this person might well be interested in repurposing the original URL, if you wanted to retain it. But as you said, the difficulty is that the stories hosted there were all written by semi-anonymous people, and getting their permission to rehost might prove daunting. If it were me, I’d look into the possibility of putting the stories up, and take a “if you ask me to take it down, I will do so” approach to the whole thing. I’m going to guess that the majority of the people who wrote those stories would like to see them resurrected.

If you don’t feel like hosting such a site on your end… and I can think of a million reasons you might not want to do that… at very least, I would recommend you take would be to ZIP those stories and files and put them out onto the torrents so others can at least enjoy them. Again, it’s literature in a sense. It would be a shame for them to be lost forever again if your computer were to crash.
