From what I can remember of the story the protagonist is a young male, high school or earlier I believe. He finds a book of magic and realizes he can use his computer to significantly automate magical spell creation.
One specific part I remember is a female character remarking on the personal shield spell he created as being the most comprehensive she had ever seen.
I also remember there was something of a secret society of wizards that found him, I think.
It has been out there since at least 5, up to 10 years ago from when I vaguely remember reading it last.
