I make youtube videos about porn addiction. I think this sub is a healthy alternative to porn. I just directed my viewers to check out you guys. Gave this sub some promotion :)

Thought you guys might like the video:

I'm curious members of this sub.. what do you think about porn addiction? And do you think erotica / these gonewild stories are healthy?

Would love your thoughts.

I know this isn't a sex story haha.. but this is relevant to this sub and thought could maybe get a cool discussion on this topic.

I think porn addiction is real and has negative consequences on the user..

But I personally think erotica is an excellent alternative to porn. Especially these REAL stories. Get's the imagination going. I think this is an AWESOME subreddit. Tons of amazing stories on here haha. (that's why I wanted to give it some promotion by making a video on it.. :-) ). So I think this is a great sub and could be a healthy place perhaps for recovering porn addicts to perhaps help them get off porn.

Curious to hear if you have any thoughts on this topic! :)

  1. By the most basic definition, erotica IS porn. High-caliber written porn, but still porn nonetheless. Porn is basically defined as a visual medium designed to sexually arouse, so you’re telling them to exchange one type of porn for another.

  2. True. A couple decades ago the masses thought smoking cigarettes were not bad for you. Just because the professional medical community hasn’t made a clear diagnosis for something, doesn’t make the problem an unreality. For me, I definitely feel an addiction to porn and negative consequences from it. My conscience tells me I should stop watching porn Perhaps that’s just me though.

  3. I think because of the lack of visual stimulation, it is a better alternative. I personally don’t watch porn, but because I have a hard time getting in the mood (low testosterone due to breastfeeding), reading stories is very helpful. I can use my imagination quite a bit more, and be mentally stimulated like I need, without getting into regular porn. Edit: I’d like to add that someone with a porn addiction should probably avoid erotica, the same way any other addict should avoid places and things that may lead to a relapse. But for someone who feels that porn can be damaging to their sexual or romantic life in general but is not actually addicted, it would be an appropriate alternative.

  4. This is exactly how I’ve been using this sub for the past year and for me it works. I’ve combined it at times with nofap and my sex life has radically improved on 12 months ago. Nice work man, I’ll check out your video.

  5. Semantics. He’s obv referring to ubiquitous porn ala redtube, etc. And yes, there’s a difference. Reading about tits, even if you do it 10x a day, is very different from looking at tits 10x a day. And yes, it’s healthier in that you don’t get desensitized to seeing tits which is ultimately better for your sex life. Good on you, OP.

  6. By this standard I think you could make the same argument in the opposite direction too. By reading sensationalized accounts of other people’s sexual experiences (especially since most posts tend to deal with the most extreme or intense experiences specifically) a person could become even more desensitized than if they were just looking at boobies.
