I’m was back in town for a visit. I live 1000 miles away now and I rarely get back to this part of the country. Today I’m on a mission to thank my biology teacher, many years after the fact, for guiding me down the path into a career in science.
He was expecting me, so when I found his classroom he was leaning up against the door frame smiling.
“Mr. Spark! It’s so good to see you again.” I gave him a big hug. It seemed like he held me a little long but I must have imagined it. The years have treated him well. His curly brown hair had little wisps of white scattered throughout. And of course, I always loved his smile – especially his big lips.
“It’s good to see you too. Please, come in!” He ushered me into the room and closed the door behind me. “How was your trip?” It was set up similarly to what it was when I was in school. “Oh, it was fine, thanks.” Long lab bench at the front, rows of desks, and what looked like another smaller room in the back where specimens and his desk were. Which is where he led me. He had a small love seat and a chair set up on the other side of his desk.
