A wonderful week has passed, with my sword lessons with Lady Erika in the morning, academic subjects with Lady Tarja, and Miriam sharing my bed at night. There are whispers of additional Maidens being released, but it isn’t clear who it will be, or even who is in contention. The glances of the Maidens as I walk the halls of the Citadel feel much more… meaningful now. Perhaps they had always been there and I had not noticed them before… assuming they were friendly or doting. Now, any one of them could end up being a new concubine. The realization is… distracting.

Still, everything seems to be going well, with the kingdom enjoying a time of peace and prosperity. And if the Goddess is willing, I pray that it will remain that way, at least until I officially can take the throne upon reaching the age of majority. And so, with that day in mind, I studied, and I always paid attention when others talked of things I needed to know, so that I could be the best king possible. Lady Arianna walks into the torchlit stone hallway, and looks to the prince’s door. Standing beside it was a lithe woman with glasses. “You have the results I asked you for?” Arianna asks quietly.
