**Episode One**
The wooden dresser lets out a groan as I place my box of clothes on top. My breathing is slightly labored from carrying the box up the stairs, and I brush a drop of sweat from my hairline with the sleeve of my shirt. With a sigh, my eyes fall back onto the girl in the mirror. A new college freshman with a sad and worn expression. The dollar store makeup I’d gotten didn’t do much to accent my deep caramel skin, but it’s all I could afford. My straight black hair flows naturally down over my shoulders, ending halfway down my shoulder blade. The eyeliner does contrast my deep green eyes though, which are rare for Latino girls. My eyebrows are thick, but I keep them trimmed short so that they accent my eyes well. A subtle purple lip balm gives my plump lips a slight shine, but not making them stand out too much on my thin face. I’d always liked the shape of my face. Round with high cheeks, but my slightly thick nose and wide mouth fit it well. Thankfully, my skin has always been great and it is still smooth. My petite frame curved nicely where it needed to, thanks to my mom’s genetics. Not that you could tell it from my clothes, looking more like something for a boy than a girl. The over-sized long-sleeved shirt over my baggy jeans made me look like a boy in his father’s clothes. Unfortunately, it’s all my parents would buy for me. It didn’t help that I never grew higher than 5’ 5”. Thanks for that Dad.
