“How did she talk me into this?”
My car pulled into the parking space of a dimly lit lot. The rain had lightened to a mist. It was cold. Barely above freezing. I could not believe I was here. I recalled our conversation.
“You’re going to love it,” she said. “Listen, I know how bad your break up with him was. He is an asshole for cheating on you. It’s been 3 months now. You deserve a little fun. There’s nothing wrong with it. I’ve been myself a few times.”
My shocked expression made her pause.
“You didn’t think I’d have you do something that I hadn’t already checked out, did you? Come on. You know you want to. I promise there’s nothing to worry about. It’s totally safe. You’ll make some money and have a blast, I promise.”
I stepped out of my car and paused. “I could just go home,” I thought. “No. She’s right. YOU deserve this. You put up with him for three years. Then he cheated on you with that bitch from work. No. You ARE doing this.”
