“Are you ready?” Reese said, a mischievous smile on his face as he faced his best friend.
“Yes! Just open the door already!” Fiona laughed, bouncing slightly and grinning at the worn apartment door.
With a flourish, Reese turned the golden colored doorknob. It creaked open a bit but got stuck at halfway open, and he had to lift and push the door up to get it all the way open. “Ta-daa!” Reese exclaimed, stepping into the minuscule apartment and spreading his arms.
Fiona walked in, her eyebrows raised. The apartment did not look good. Everything seemed to be in one room. The “kitchen” was just a janky looking stove with a cabinet-countertop-sink combo, and there were odd stains decorating the wallpaper near the fridge. There was a small wooden desk on the opposite wall to the kitchen with a fold up chair tucked into it. Fiona didn’t even have to step any further into the apartment to see the rest of it, which was simply just a twin bed pushed into the far corner against the one window in the room. “Wow,” she laughed.
“Okay, I know it doesn’t look nice yet-”
