Haven’t posted a story in a while, and this was notable to me, as I keep thinking back to it.
I am working a seasonal job this summer and have never been this far out west before. It’s always fun to Tinder in new places. I had quite a few matches—women, men, and non-binary people alike. There was a man that I took a liking to. Very intelligent, tall, older…basically, he checked all the boxes.
However, there is usually a barrier for (typically straight) cismen to grasp that I’m non-binary. I like to drop that bomb early to see if they are total assholes or not. He wasn’t very familiar with the idea or language but was open to it. It’s understandable to not quite get it at first. I have female anatomy, but I don’t identify as a woman. Weird sometimes, I get it. I just don’t want to be perceived as a woman or a “tomboy” by my partners.
