“Shit…” Shannon muttered under her breath as she jumped in the car. She was late to work for the second time this week. Her boss was going to be furious if she didn’t get in on time. She sped off down the road, skipping her normal stop for coffee at Starbucks. Caffeine would just have to wait until after she got checked in at work.
As she made the turn out of her little neighborhood, she got lucky and hit the next three lights on green. Things were looking up; maybe she would make it on time after all! She zipped across town and made it into the parking lot at 8:57. “Three minutes, I can’t believe I made it!” she thought as she slid out of the car and strutted across the parking lot hurriedly.
She popped into the office and beamed a smile at her boss in his office. “Good morning, sir!” she said cheerfully, thankful that she hadn’t gotten off on the wrong foot by being late.
