i am an 18 year old student in a prestigious high school that trains its students for ivy league colleges abroad. it is a reputed institution with a lot of success stories from our locality. the teachers were strict, the study load was immense and the hours were long but they had a history of getting nearly every student into a respected college. i had somehow managed to scrape through to get in but I knew from the first day that i was out of my depth. there were some extremely smart students here and i was struggling just to pass.
then today came a surprise test that caught me completely off guard. with all the assignments, extra-curriculars and studying going on for various subjects, i had missed an email about a math test today. this would be a crucial test, it would count towards our final grades and mine were already faltering in math.
