Buzzing

Buzzing [F]

It was still dark outside when the sound woke her up. It was a distinct, not too loud, buzzing sound, and at first she thought it was outside the house. When she realised that it actually came from under the bed she was sleeping in, she felt frightened, but only for a minute. Until curiosity took over.

After all, it was her best friend’s bed and she know that the prospect of giant insects living under it was very remote. This was England after all, not Brazil. Then she thought it might be some sort of practical joke. It had felt odd of her friend to offer her her own bed while she herself would sleep on the sofa in the living room of the one bedroom flat. Tired as she was though, and as her friend had insisted she had agreed without too much of a bad conscience.
Now, her curiosity obviously won, together with the fact that she wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep while this was going on anyway.
