Crystal’s dad’s guests arrived for their long weekend hunt. The first night, they were having dinner at Crystal’s lodge style house to get acquainted with us. I was invited to dinner, as an employee and not as Crystal’s boyfriend. The customers were a wealthy East Coast family with young kids and the parents were young and attractive. Crystal and I escaped to the basement to be alone at one point and she said, “Dave, my dad is right, you and I can’t act all horny and flirt. I am going to ignore you and act like Mary poppins. I can tell this family is going to tip really well, if we do a good job. You would be surprised how good the tips are on these trips. Anyway, their kids are cute and I’m going to show them a good time.”
I said, “Look, I will pretend I’m not in love with you for the weekend,” and I kind of trailed off at the end of that sentence because the word love just kind of came out and now I was freaked out.
Crystal was looking at me nervously and said, “What did you just say?”
