Part 1
It was a normal day that started like any other as I walked up to the side door of Station 12. Station 12 is the oldest station in our district and houses a single Engine Co, Engine 12. It’s a smaller building, only 2 stories. The first floor is mainly the engine bay, in the back is the kitchen/TV area, a small bathroom and there are 2 offices (one is used by the battalion chief when he stops by and the other is the watch office where there are computers for the crew to use). Along the right side of the building is a room with racks for extra supplies and equipment, this is also where we hang our gear when we aren’t on shift. Upstairs is mainly our sleeping quarters with 3 larger full bathrooms, and the captain’s office/bedroom is tucked in the front corner. The main area has 4 beds and the walls are lined with lockers for our personal belongings.
