I wrote this story for a friend, you know who you are.
Let me know what you think.
It was nice being home to see the family and my old friends. The annual block party was the same as I had remembered it, neighbors mingling, ice cold beer, the usual. Then I saw her across the yard.
It was her, Chuck’s daughter, the girl I had always had a crush on. She wasnt a teenager anymore, though neither was I, she was more mature, more refined, and yet just as beautiful as I remembered. She laughed while talking to some neighbors and I felt my heart flutter as if I was back in high school. Amazing that she can still have that effect on me. She sees me and smiles, excuses herself from the conversation she was in and walks my way.
“Hey you!” she says with a smile and open arms.
“How have you been? It’s been so long.”
I reply with my usual small talk routine
“Great, how about you?” I wanted to say something clever but I couldnt think.. Something about her I guess.
