With the sun still above the horizon, a tired and young soul walks through the streets on the often traveled road home. This tired man’s name is, Roger. He was once full of potential and optimism for the future. After flunking out of college however, all that was left was fatigue and complacency. Everyone looked to Roger at one point as the best and brightest in his class, despite being no different from anyone else. Everyone imagined a grand future for him and he didn’t understand why. Maybe it was because he didn’t stand out much in the day to day or his quiet demeanor. All he knew is that there was know difference between him and anyone else, for better or worse.
“I don’t even remember the last time I was off of work this early.”, he thought to himself.
It was true. Working at the warehouse, Roger would take on the longer shifts that no one wanted so he would be by himself more often. He preferred it this way over working retail and having to answer whether or not the canned soup had gluten in it, or if the cream of mushroom had gluten, or if even the jerky had gluten. There was many an interrogation about gluten.
