Having just changed jobs, I am new to town. I am a single, late-twenties male whose main concern is his career. This new job has given me the financial independence that I have been working for and the prestige to make the inconvenience of moving to a new place worthwhile.
Oakville is a very different place than what I am used to with my older roots. The people seem to be much friendlier and the area is just so vast. Since I am comfortable in the typical suburban Canadian setting, I rented a house in one of the more upscale neighborhoods outside of the GTA. Surprisingly in such a big city with all this open land, the houses are rather close together. I guess it just saves on the yard work in the hot summer.
I just recently met my neighbors at a barbeque in my honor. Everyone seemed quite friendly and easy to get along with. The atmosphere was relaxed and filled with plenty of friendly banter and some innocent flirting among the adults. My new next-door neighbor, Carole, let everyone know that since I was the only unattached person in the group, they would all have to do something about it.
